Sheep have a "normal" gestation of 142-147 days. However Ryelands are longer, typcially 147-152 days. Most of our flock have varying degrees of Ryeland in their bloodline, so predicting their due date is a challenge....

This year we are calving and lambing at the same time. We have 4 cows to calf and 20 ewes. The 20 ewes have 1 triplets, 12 twins and 7 singles between them. The cows are all singles.

We didn't track when the ewes were served this year, so they all have a served date of the day the ram went in - 6th November2024. The ram we used for this season was a Roussin ram, supposed to be a good terminal sire for a Lleyn ewe. Roussin have dark faces and legs but white fleece, so it will be interesting to see how the lambs come out.
